1. Who is responsible?

I am Roger Spittle, an independent business operator based in the United Kingdom and the person responsible for the personal information covered by this notice. In data-protection terms, I am the controller.

This notice covers rogerspittle.com, its business-card page and enquiries you send to me through its contact details. The linked HostSuperstore, PingFree and Merepath services explain their own activities in their respective privacy notices.

For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected] or call +44 7435 341741.

2. Information and purposes

When you contact me: I receive the details you choose to share, such as your name, email address, telephone number, organisation, website and the content of your enquiry. Please share only what is relevant; do not send passwords or sensitive personal information in an initial message.

I use enquiry information to reply, discuss your requirements and keep a record of the conversation. My lawful basis for general and business enquiries is legitimate interests: communicating with people who contact me about my work. Where you personally request steps towards a contract, or become a client in your own name, necessary processing may instead be based on those pre-contract steps or the contract. Legal obligations apply where relevant to business records.

When you visit: hosting, network and security systems process technical request information. This can include your IP address, the requested address, request time, browser details, response information and security events. The legitimate interests are delivering a working website, diagnosing problems and protecting it against misuse.

You choose whether to make an enquiry and what to provide. Without contact details or enough information about your request, I may be unable to reply or help. I do not use this site to make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you.

3. Service providers and external links

Information is handled by the providers needed for the channel you use: website hosting, network delivery and security providers for visits; email and telephone providers for correspondence; and WhatsApp if you choose that messaging service. Relevant professional advisers may receive business records where needed, and information may be disclosed where the law requires it.

These services can involve processing in more than one country. International handling depends on the provider and service used. Contact me for information about the providers receiving your information and any applicable international-transfer arrangements and safeguards.

WhatsApp: the WhatsApp buttons are ordinary links, rather than an embedded chat or tracking widget. Opening one takes you to an external service. WhatsApp processes information under its own privacy policy (opens in a new tab). You can call or email me instead.

Other websites linked here have their own privacy information. I do not sell your personal information.

4. Cookies and browser features

The website’s own code does not set cookies or save browsing information in local or session storage. It does not run analytics, advertising, tracking pixels or visitor-profiling scripts. Fonts and images are served from this website.

Hosting and network security systems still handle technical requests as described above. This website has no optional analytics or marketing features that require a cookie-consent choice.

Share this page: this button opens your device’s sharing options, or copies the public website address to your clipboard, only when you select it. Your chosen application controls what happens when you share.

Save contact and business-card downloads: these provide my contact details or card files to your device. They do not upload your address book to me. A download can create an ordinary technical request record, like opening a page.

If I introduce new cookies, tracking or other relevant features, I will update this notice and provide any choices required before those features operate.

5. How long information is kept

Enquiry correspondence is kept for as long as needed to respond, handle related follow-up and maintain a reasonable record of the discussion. If an enquiry becomes client work, relevant records may be retained for delivery, support, resolving disputes and applicable legal or accounting obligations.

Technical records are retained according to their operational and security purpose and the relevant provider’s configuration. The criteria are whether they are still needed to operate the website, diagnose a fault, investigate misuse or meet an applicable obligation. You can ask about retention of information relating to you.

6. Your rights and complaints

Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access or correct your personal information, have it erased, restrict its use, or receive a portable copy where that right applies. If processing relies on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.

Your right to object

You can object to processing based on legitimate interests, including my use of your information for general enquiries or website security. I will stop that processing unless I can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the information is needed for legal claims.

Contact [email protected] to make a request. I may need enough information to locate the relevant record and verify your identity. These rights can depend on the reason information is held and are not absolute.

You can raise a concern with me, and you also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/ (opens in a new tab).

7. Security and updates

I take reasonable steps to protect information and limit access to what is needed for the task. No website or communication service can guarantee complete security.

This notice will be reviewed when the website or the way information is handled changes. The date at the top identifies the current version.
